I remember catching Missingno on my friend's Pokemon Blue cart way back in '98...I was like, 11. He was so pissed afterward, for this VERY reason.

It feels like it contains too many references to Ego's MGAs. I dunno, maybe it's just me.

That could be true. As a Metal Gear styled movie, I felt it was in place to reference it from time to time. Not to steal his thunder, just to please the ones that don't know/played MGS4.
